.Dr. Albert L. Downing, originally from Plymouth, North Carolina, is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Living Faith Christian Center (LFCC), a progressive, rapidly expanding, non-denominational ministry with international partnerships and locations in the Philippines, Haiti, and Australia. Since its founding on October 2, 2016, LFCC has continued its growth and reflects Pastor Downing’s passion for discipleship, leadership development, and transformational ministry.

Dr. Downing has pastored several churches in North Carolina and South Carolina. A distinguished scholar and trailblazer, Dr. Downing earned a Bachelor of Science degree as the first African American male to graduate from the former Roanoke Bible College, now Mid-Atlantic Christian University, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He holds a Master of Divinity in Bible Christian Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and a Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte, NC Campus, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Under Dr. Downing’s leadership, LFCC has engaged in extensive community and global outreach, including homeless food initiatives, Christmas toy and gift drives for children, community clothing and food distributions, evangelism efforts, and Veterans support programs. Internationally, he has launched mission and outreach work in several regions of the Philippines, including Kapalong and Davao del Norte. He is also the founder of the Living Faith School of Theology, with campuses in Columbia, SC, and Tagum City, Philippines.

Dr. Downing’s call to ministry extends to his distinguished military career. He served twenty-four years in the United States Armed Forces—three years as an enlisted Soldier in the U.S. Army, three years as a U.S. Navy Chaplain at Camp Pendleton, California, and eighteen years as a U.S. Army Chaplain. During his service, he deployed to Iraq for fourteen months and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He retired honorably at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Dr. Downing and his wife of more than 24 years, Executive Pastor Inza F. Downing, are the proud parents of adult children.
